GETTING PHYSICALLY ACTIVE INCREASES YOUR ENERGY TODAY…AND THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE!

Have you ever felt tired and drained, even when drinking coffee or other caffeinated beverages to stay awake? While those things can help a bit, there’s actually a Miracle Drug that can boost your energy and get you back to feeling on top of things again. It’s called physical activity.

Now think about your child—who probably doesn’t drink caffeine—but most likely has a lot more energy than you do. How is that possible? Well, because children are usually more physically active than adults, and it’s crucial to keep them that way. One study even suggests that children have the energy level of adult endurance athletes.

When we are physically active, our bodies produce more mitochondria, which are the powerhouse of cells. These cells allow us to create fuel (energy) for our bodies from glucose through the food we eat and the oxygen we breathe in. Having more mitochondria in our bodies equates to having more energy.

Being physically active also increases the oxygen circulation inside our bodies, leading to both an increase in mitochondria and more efficient use of our energy. This same exercise also releases hormones called endorphins that make you feel better. When we feel better, we are usually more attentive and have increased energy levels.

One research project also looked at various research studies conducted over several decades and found that all of them indicated there is a connection between regular physical activity and a reduced chance of feeling fatigued or having low energy levels.

Physical exercise is also proven to help us get better sleep, which, in turn, enables us to have more energy during the day. Multiple studies show that individuals who get less sleep during the week end up feeling tired more often.

In order to keep children happy, healthy, and full of energy, it’s critical to make sure that physical activity is a regular part of their daily routine. It’s also important for adults to know that they don’t always need to reach for another cup of coffee either, but can instead get active and boost their energy.
